This training video offers basic concepts about common oscillators (XO, TCXO), precision oscillators (OCXO, Atomic), Primary Reference Clocks (PRC), Primary Time Reference Clocks (PRTC) and how to configure and discipline the TX300s built-in Atomic Clock, to be used as an accurate and stable precision timing clock reference. It also offers a basic introduction of precision timing, time and the 1PPS clock signal.
Besides going through the configuration of the test set, it offers simplified block diagrams to explain the basic concepts necessary to understand how precision oscillators work, how their accuracy and stability can be improved with the help of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), what all those acronyms and parameters mean, and how they affect the behavior and quality of the test set's internal precision reference clocks. We believe that understanding those concepts, and where they come from, would help in making better configuration decisions and ultimately better, more accurate and repeatable, synchronization verification measurements. The individual slides are made in a way that presents extra information and details, so that you can go back to them and read the details later on.
